No Show and Cancellation Fee:  

If a client or parent of a client falls to call or cancel within 25 hours of an appointment, the client or their parent is billed a cancellation fee of 100. The client will be billed on their credit card typically on the day of service in which they missed. 

Why do we have cancellation fees? 

Blue River Counseling cares about providing services to individuals and their families. Unfortunately, the practice does not receive outside funding (e.g., grants, donations, etc.) to assist with funding mental health services.  Private practice providers rely on clients to honor commitments to appointment times as their source of income which covers business expenses for providing quality care as well as personal living expenses.  When clients do not attend scheduled appointments and/or fail to communicate a need to reschedule in a timely manner, the appointment time cannot be made available to another client.  This affects both the provider’s compensation as well as access to care for other clients who need support.  Blue River Counseling  appreciates your compassionate understanding and commitment to respecting the employees time and the needs of this practice.  Also if an emergency, such as a lack of transportation, other modes of communication can be utilized such as telehealth.

No Surprises Act:

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the No Surprises Act is a law requiring health care providers, including mental health professionals, to give patients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use insurance a “Good Faith Estimate.”  This is an estimate of the expected charges for medical services and items, including psychotherapy services.  Blue River Counseling will provide good faith estimates yearly for those that do not have insurance or choose not to use their insurance.  For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute process, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call CMS at (800)-985-3059.
